Technical Regulation Law
Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Technical Regulation”
Governs mandatory requirements for products and related processes (technical regulations), conformity assessment, accreditation and state control of product safety. The new Law of 30 December 2020 replaced the 2004 Law on Technical Regulation from 1 July 2021.
What matters for an oil & gas company
- Technical regulations (national and those adopted within the EAEU) set mandatory safety requirements for products, for example equipment used at oil and gas facilities.
- Products covered by technical regulations may be placed on the market only after conformity assessment — certification or a declaration of conformity.
- Accreditation in conformity assessment is a state monopoly; information on documents is kept in the register of technical regulation.
- State control bodies may take product samples and apply operational response measures to non-compliant products.
