2026 methodologies for estimating reserves of solid minerals, groundwater and hydrocarbons (including unconventional): for hydrocarbons — operational estimates at the exploration and trial production stages, estimation of initial geological reserves, justification of recovery factors and economic evaluation of development options.
What matters for an oil & gas company
- Chapter 4 deals with hydrocarbons: boundaries of reserve categories, net pay, porosity and oil saturation from cores and well logs, recoverable reserves and justification of the oil recovery factor.
- Includes a separate procedure for estimating unconventional hydrocarbon reserves and formulas for the economic evaluation of development options.
- Together with the classification instruction (Order No. 208) replaced the methodology and instructions approved by Order No. 71 of 02.02.2023.
