Zhanazhol

Zhanazhol is an oil and gas condensate field in the Mugalzhar district of the Aktobe region, 240 km south of Aktobe. It was discovered in 1978, when well 4 gave the first commercial oil from Middle Carboniferous carbonates. It is developed by CNPC-Aktobemunaigas, which accounts for about 70% of the region's oil and 90% of its gas.

Infrastructure

The gas is processed by three Zhanazhol plants on the field itself; the oil goes into the pipeline system to Atyrau and on to the CPC, or east along Kenkiyak — Kumkol — Atasu — Alashankou towards China.
