Electricity use and cost
Electricity used by equipment over a period from its power, load factor, efficiency and running time, and its cost at a tariff.
P_avg = P · K_l / ηW = P_avg · t · DC = W · cLoading and efficiency change with the duty: for an accurate figure use meter readings or the measured average power. The capacity charge of a two-part tariff and the transformer losses are not included.
Source: W = P · t; 1 kWh = 3.6 MJ
Inputs
You can change a field's unit: the value is converted to the formula's units automatically.
Motor rating (shaft power) or the power drawn from the supply.
Average actual power as a percentage of the rating; usually 60–90 % for pumps and compressors.
If the power is the shaft power; 100 % for power drawn from the supply.
A month is 30, a year 365.
From the supply contract, with or without VAT as the calculation requires.

Results are engineering estimates from standard formulas; for design decisions check them against the codes, project documents and specialists' calculations. The formulas carried over from the original set are unchanged, and their errors are described in the notes.
