Casing cementing: slurry and displacement volumes
Slurry volume for a single-stage casing job: the open-hole annulus with excess, the overlap with the previous casing, the shoe track and the rat hole, plus the displacement volume down to the float collar.
V_oh = π/4 · (D_b² − D_c²) · (H_s − max(H_c, H_p)) · (1 + k)V_ov = π/4 · (d_p² − D_c²) · max(0, H_p − H_c)V_st = π/4 · d_c² · h; V_rh = π/4 · D_b² · L_r · (1 + k)V = V_oh + V_ov + V_st + V_rhV_d = π/4 · d_c² · (H_s − h)One stage, one slurry. For lead and tail slurries, compute the volume from the shoe to the top of the tail and subtract it from the total. Surface lines and the compressibility of the displacement fluid are not included — add them as the job plan requires.

Inputs
You can change a field's unit: the value is converted to the formula's units automatically.
Bit size, or the caliper average (then with a smaller excess).
From a caliper log or offset wells.
0 for cement to surface.
0 if there is none.

Results are engineering estimates from standard formulas; for design decisions check them against the codes, project documents and specialists' calculations. The formulas carried over from the original set are unchanged, and their errors are described in the notes.
