Kashagan
Kashagan · Кашаганское месторождение · Қашаған кен орны
Kashagan is Kazakhstan's first offshore project and one of the largest oil discoveries of recent decades. It was found in 2000 in the northern Caspian, 75 km from Atyrau, in three to four metres of water. Infrastructure
The wells sit on artificial islands, the production travels by subsea pipelines to the Bolashak onshore plant near Atyrau, where oil and gas are separated and stripped of hydrogen sulphide. Part of the gas goes back into the reservoir to hold the pressure.
